Move over, Masaharu Morimoto and Jose Garces — there is a new Iron Chef in town.
Famed celebrity chef Bobby Flay, who was recently interviewed by Charles Thorp of Examiner.com, has sparked excitement on campus after hinting that Bobby’s Burger Palace will soon be serving patties and fries in University City.
When asked whether he could reveal the location of his fifth Bobby’s Burger Palace, Flay confirmed to Thorp that he and his business partner have “made an offer on a location and think it’s going to be accepted!”
However, Flay couldn’t unveil the exact space “because it’s not actually signed” and said that “we’re pretty sure we’re going to get it.”
“All I can tell you is the next one is going to be in the state of Pennsylvania on the grounds of a university,” he added.
Flay is rumored to be negotiating a lease for a space within the Radian building at 3925 Walnut St., according to Grub Street Philadelphia.
“For the remaining retail space, we are currently negotiating with a diverse mix of retailers, including Bobby’s Burger Palace, that we believe will positively impact University City,” Rachel Kihn, spokesperson for the Radian’s owner, Inland American Communities, wrote in an e-mail.
“The Radian values its relationship with potential retailers, and will provide additional information as leases are signed,” she added.
The Office of the Executive Vice President declined to comment until the developer releases official information.
